Good news! The Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired has secured 8 State Senators and 6 State Representatives as sponsors of an Omnibus Bill.
Our legislative proposal is Senate Bill 661. It addresses a number of issues of importance to people in Wisconsin who have vision loss, including protection for guide dogs and service animals, housing, employment opportunities, pedestrian safety and improved signage, enforcement of the White Cane Safety Law, and improved accessibility to state documents and websites. This legislation has received very strong bipartisan support.
Sponsors of Senate Bill 661 are:
Senators Dale Schultz, John Lehman, Nikiya Harris, Mike Ellis, Tim Cullen, Mark Miller, Kathleen Vinehout, and Bob Jauch.
Representatives: Mary Williams, Tod Ohnstad, Melissa Sargent, Lee Neirson, Ed Brooks, and Travis Tranel.
