The Council is committed to educating the general public as part of its mission. For the past four years, NeuGen (formerly WEA Trust) has generously supported Council education and outreach efforts by sponsoring a variety of programs that fit their organization’s guidelines. NeuGen provides grant funds for organizations that promote the education and health of Wisconsin residents. The Council thanks them for making the following events and activities possible:

  • 2017 – $1000 toward elementary school programs: The Council regularly presents about visual impairment and adaptive techniques to elementary school students in southern Wisconsin.
  • 2018 – $1500 toward a braille embosser: The Council provides Courier newsletters, board meeting materials and the annual report in braille for clients and donors who request that medium.
  • 2019 – $500 toward the Low Vision Fair: Held in Eau Claire last year, the Low Vision Fair provided attendees with information about adaptive products, an opportunity to network and a way to get connected with the Council.
  • 2020 – $1000 toward bus ads: In October, the Council plans to advertise on city buses in the Green Bay area to promote the importance of The White Cane Law and pedestrian safety.

“The Council is grateful that NeuGen sees the value of community education and it is evident in the programs they choose to fund,” says Lori Werbeckes, the Council’s Fund Development Director. “Elementary school programs, braille availability, The Low Vision Fair and promoting pedestrian safety are just some of the ways the Council reaches out to inform people about the many aspects of living with blindness or impaired vision.”

Thank you to NeuGen for their valuable and continuous support.
