For much of our history, the Council has provided academic scholarships to support students living with vision loss who want to enhance their education and achieve their professional goals. Hundreds of students have received our scholarship help since the inception of the program, with thousands of dollars in awards helping break down barriers to success in postsecondary education and employment.
The application deadline is March 15. Interested students can find the application and related materials at WCBlind.org/events/scholarships.
2023 scholarship recipient Lewa Diarra, a junior at UW-Madison, encourages students to apply for the scholarship and to be positive and confident about taking the next step in furthering their education. “There are so many new opportunities and new people with different perspectives to meet,” Lewa says. “Being willing to step outside your comfort zone will allow you to grow so much as a person.”
Purdue University Senior Joseph Tuttle, another 2023 scholarship recipient, says the Council’s help has been critical. “This scholarship has meant so much to me,” Joseph says. “It has not only helped me with tuition but also with housing and purchasing the assistive technology that I needed.”
