On June 13, 2013, the Council presented the third annual Bloomsday benefit event at the Brink Lounge in Madison.  The evening featured a celebration of James Joyce’s masterpiece novel, Ulysses, and all things Irish.  Joyce was nearly blind at the time of his death so it was an ideal opportunity to recognize the many creative contributions of people who live with vision loss.  In addition to staged readings from Ulysses by Madison notables, guests enjoyed Irish music by Alan Ng and Elizabeth Simcock, a James Joyce and all-things Irish trivia quiz, refreshments and lively conversation.  Major event sponsors were the American Family Insurance Foundation, Associated Bank, Madison Gas & Electric Foundation, and the Milwaukee Irish Fest Foundation.
