Urgent Transportation Needs During COVID-19

A paratransit rider in a wheelchair is helped out of a van.

In an effort to serve the unique needs of the blind and visually impaired community during this challenging time, we would like to share information and resources of particular interest to our community.

These are general suggestions and advise everyone to seek medical advice or guidance from other officials to handle individual circumstances.

Transportation

If an individual seeks medical treatment and is asked to come in for a COVID-19 test, it is important for the individual (or their advocate), to let the healthcare provider who requested the test, know if the person cannot drive and does not have a ride. The healthcare provider may have resources to assist.

If you need help finding a ride for a medical appointment in Wisconsin, we suggest contacting the mobility manager in your county.

Find a Mobility Manager

Mobility managers work cooperatively with the Independent Living Centers (ILCs), Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs), senior centers, health departments and others. They are a resource for helping with transportation issues in their counties. They will also know the transportation options through Medicaid, BadgerCare, etc.
