Launching in 2025, our Advocacy Discussion Group is designed to empower individuals who are blind or low vision to become effective advocates at both local and state levels. Meeting online via Zoom every other month, this group will provide a platform to share ideas, support one another, and engage in meaningful advocacy discussions.
This group will focus on advocacy, including legislative updates and community engagement. Each meeting will offer opportunities to learn about current issues, develop advocacy skills, hear from peers and provide mutual support. The group meets on the third Wednesday of every other month.
Advocacy has been a cornerstone of the Council’s mission since our beginnings over 70 years ago. We believe the Advocacy Discussion Group will help build a statewide network of passionate advocates committed to sustaining the momentum year-round.
The Advocacy Discussion Group will be facilitated by Council staff, Kathleen Callen and Mitch Brey. They will guide conversations and ensure all participants have a voice in choosing discussion topics. If you would like to join, please use the registration form on this page or contact Kathleen and Mitch at AdvocacyGroup@WCBlind.org. We look forward to seeing you and working together to create positive change!
