Reminder: Make a Gift to the Council’s White Cane Fund

Thermometer showing progress of $13,500 of the $25,000 Council goalThe Council thanks all those who have contributed to the annual White Cane Fund. Your gifts have brought the Council closer to the $25,000 goal.

Because of your support, the Council is still sending white canes to people who are blind or visually impaired during the COVID-19 pandemic. The white cane is a tool promoting greater independence, dignity and empowerment for those who live with vision loss. The Council provides one white cane every two years to anyone in need.

Vision services client, Matt, remarked, “My white cane has become an extension of my hand. My cane has opened doors to conversations I would not have had. It has given me the opportunity to teach others that just because I am blind, it does not mean I cannot do the things I want. I just might do things differently.”

Check out this video from Denise Jess, Council CEO/Executive Director, as she explains the impact of Council services on the lives of people who are blind or visually impaired and their families.

Did you know? A tax law change for 2020 will allow filers to deduct up to $300 in charitable contributions even if you do not itemize your deductions.
