A virtual celebration was held to honor the Council’s 2020 scholarship recipients on Thursday, June 4. Council board, staff, members of the Scholarships work group, scholarship recipients and their family members attended.

“The intimate nature of the ceremony made me feel like I was talking directly to each of the winners,” reflects Denise Jess, Council CEO/Executive Director. She led the program along with board member Rebecca Arrowood.

In addition to saying their name, school and area of study, each winner thanked the Council and reflected on what it means to them to have support as they continue their education.

“During this time of leaving the nest, it is both exciting and scary to go out there,” says Kaitlyn “Kate” Hippe, a scholarship recipient who will be a freshman at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan this fall. “Thank you for reminding us that we are not alone.”

The Council thanks Associated Bank for sponsoring this event.
