It is with sadness that the Council board and staff share the passing of long-time board member and supporter Arnold Tucker.

Arnold was a board member from 2002 to 2014 including serving as treasurer and on the finance committee, where he continued until 2018.In 2014 he was honored with the “Backyard Hero Award” by Community Shares of Wisconsin for his services as a diabetic educator and chair of the Council’s finance committee. Arnold also founded a support group for people with low vision in Sun Prairie.

Arnold began losing vision as a child due to congenital glaucoma. He earned his pharmacy degree and a degree in health care administration at the University of Minnesota. Arnold was an avid Badger fan and a Life Member of the UW Alumni Association, and enjoyed attending concerts at and supporting the Overture Center for the Arts.

“Arnold was an active, knowledgeable and professional board member, and he was a superlative colleague with a terrific sense of humor. Arnold was a huge presence in northern Wisconsin, and he significantly enhanced the Council’s outreach and presence,” says Council board secretary Rhonda Staats. “His experience as a private businessman and in healthcare administration added great synergy to the Council.”

We are grateful for the many ways which Arnold served people across Wisconsin who are blind or visually impaired. All of us at the Council extend sincere condolences to Arnold’s family and friends. He will be remembered for making an impact on many by serving his community.
