All About Bob: Meet the Council’s New Communications Director

Please join the staff in welcoming Bob Jacobson to the Council as our new communications director. With more than 20 years of nonprofit communications experience, Bob is pleased to return to the nonprofit sector after a stint at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services overseeing provider communications in the Medicaid division.

“I learned a lot working in the state bureaucracy, and it was a positive experience,” Bob says. “But the nonprofit world is where my heart is, and I’m grateful to have landed back in it with such an excellent organization.”

Originally from Detroit, Bob lives on Madison’s far east side with his wife Cynthia and their White Shepherd puppy Opal. When he’s not working, playing with Opal, or annoying one of his two adult children with unsolicited parental advice, Bob can often be found tooting his trumpet in the local music scene.

“It’s such a privilege to have found a place with an organization committed to both serving people directly and working for systemic change,” Bob says. “Those functions work hand in hand to improve lives and empower the folks we’re here for.”

One of the best ways to sample Bob’s contribution to the Council is by subscribing to one or more of our email newsletters.
