The Council is one of nearly 70 nonprofit organizations based in Dane County that benefit from the Community Shares of Wisconsin (CSW) workplace giving campaign that takes place each fall. Workplace giving is an easy and effective way to support our work. Over 100 area employers host workplace giving campaigns through CSW. Many employees opt to have a specified amount taken out of each paycheck, to be donated to the CSW member nonprofits of their choice. You can also choose to make your gift in one lump sum if you prefer. 100% of designated proceeds go to your chosen organization or organizations. The Council raises thousands of dollars through workplace giving every year. An added benefit is that it helps us get information about our important work to a lot of people who may not know much about us.
Eileen Newcomer of the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin has been giving to the Council through workplace giving for five years. She says she gives through the League’s workplace giving campaign because it assures her that she is supporting nonprofits that share many of the same values as her and her organization. “The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin is also a part of CSW, and I really like how supportive all of the member organizations are of each other,” Eileen says. “I make a point to donate to the Council because of our work together in the Disability Vote Coalition, and I’ve been able to see how our work together has had a real impact on the lives of voters with disabilities.”
If your workplace participates in a campaign through CSW, please consider supporting the Council. To find out if your employer is running a campaign, reach out to your Human Resources staff or CSW campaign coordinator.
You can learn more about workplace giving on the CSW website. And you can give through Community Shares even if your employer does not run a workplace campaign by visiting CSW’s Donate page.
And of course you can always give directly to the Council online at WCBlind.org/Donate or by contacting Lori at LWerbeckes@WCBlind.org or 608-237-8114.
