End Your Year with a Gift to the Council

For many, it has become a tradition to end the year by making a charitable gift to an organization that is important to them. All gifts to the Council are greatly appreciated and help us continue promoting the independence and dignity of people in Wisconsin who are blind or have low vision.

A gift to the Council of any amount will help bring life changing services to someone who needs them. Just $35 will provide someone with a free white cane. A gift of $80 will enable someone to receive orientation and mobility training to learn to use that white cane. And $100 can provide two hours of in-home training with a certified vision rehabilitation therapist. While clients with the means to pay for these services are expected to do so, your gift ensures that the Council can serve everyone with vision loss in Wisconsin, regardless of their ability to pay.

Mary Mastaglio has been giving to the Council every year for a decade. Mary has known several people who have benefitted from Council services. In fact, she says she recently began using the Sharper Vision Store herself to buy magnifiers and other adaptive products. “I’m so glad the Council is here for everybody who is in need of some support,” Mary says.

Mary, like many others, makes her gifts in memory of a loved one. “A contribution to the Council is a thoughtful way to honor the life of someone special to you,” says Fund Development Director Lori Werbeckes. “So many of us no longer need ‘things’ to celebrate birthdays or other special occasions. Making a gift to support an organization that does important work in your community is an ideal way to honor or memorialize someone.”
