The following Wisconsin low vision support groups may be helpful to you or a loved one affected by vision loss. They are not run by Wisconsin Council of the Blind and we cannot guarantee the information listed below is current. Call or email the contact person to get more information.   • Trailblazers Low Vision Support Group

  • College and Working Age Low Vision Support Group

    Devoted to topics of interest to college and working age adults under 45. The group meets virtually the third Tuesday of the month and is open to people across Wisconsin.

Vision Forward
Open to all counties in Wisconsin Vision Forward has the following four groups running (by phone only at this time):

  • For Parents of Children with Vision Loss
    Monthly support and education meetings are held to provide families with opportunities to better understand their child’s special needs and strengths, find out about available community resources and learn to advocate for their child’s future. Parent mentors also offer support on an individual basis.
    Next meeting: August 11 at 6:30 pm. Future meetings will be decided upon at that meeting.

  • For Adults with Vision Loss and Family Members
    Vision Forward offers a weekly daytime session to help adults of all ages and at all stages of vision loss and their family members to cope with the emotional impact of vision loss. Participants will build coping skills, learn practical strategies for completing tasks, and discover resources available to help make adjusting to vision loss easier.

  • For Adults with Vision Loss
    Regular evening support group for adults with low vision. Held the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. Participants gather to share experiences and gain new awareness and approaches to managing the challenges of life with vision impairment. Family members are welcome to participate.

Lunch / Social at 11 am and Meeting / Speaker at 12 pm. Lots of resources and information related to low vision and blindness. Speakers occasionally. Very relaxed and fun atmosphere.
