Join Us for ‘Make Way for Pedestrians,’ a Webinar on Making Our Streets and Sidewalks Safer

Graphic showing pedestrians with and without disabilities and the words Make way for pedestrians Take steps to advocate for safe streets in your community

We are all pedestrians.

Whether we walk to work, to friends’ homes, to a public transit stop or just stroll the neighborhood for exercise, everybody needs and deserves access to safe sidewalks and street crossings.

On September 7 starting at noon, the Council is partnering with the Sierra Club and 1000 Friends of Wisconsin for a one-hour webinar to discuss ways to advocate for pedestrian safety in our communities. Presenters will include Council Executive Director Denise Jess and Cassie Steiner, Senior Campaign Coordinator at the Sierra Club – Wisconsin Chapter.

“Make Way for Pedestrians!” will help you understand how to evaluate pedestrian networks where you live and provide ideas for promoting greater safety. Are the sidewalks in your community smooth? Are crossings marked clearly? Does each block end with a curb cut? What are best practices for these, and how can you work with local officials to spur improvements?

The Zoom webinar is free, but registration is required. Learn more, including how to sign up, on our event page.
