When Henrietta de la Cruz lost her vision a few years ago, she says the Council came to visit her and gave her a white cane to help her get around and high contrast measuring cups to help her to continue cooking. As a way of saying thank you, Henrietta decided to support the Council by becoming a monthly donor. “I live on a fixed income, so being a monthly donor allows me to give a little bit each month while still making an impact,” Henrietta says.
Monthly giving enables you to support the Council on your schedule while giving us the ongoing, sustainable income we need to make important long-term decisions. While individual gifts are vital to the work we do, they can also ebb and flow over time. Monthly gifts are a reliable source of revenue that enables us to continue working toward our mission day after day. Whether we are enhancing our approach to vision services, pursuing a new advocacy goal, or looking for new educational events to help inform the public about the Council’s work, the predictable income that monthly giving provides allows us to follow through with new plans to support the lives of people who are blind or low vision in Wisconsin. No matter the amount, your monthly gift will add up over the year and make a meaningful impact for someone with vision loss.
We are just one year away from the 75th anniversary of the Council’s founding, and our goal is to have 75 monthly donors by that time. We call our group of monthly donors our White Cane Circle. If you would like to join the White Cane Circle and support the Council with a monthly gift, contact Development Director Debbie Rasmussen at [email protected] or 608-237-8113, or visit the Donate page of our website at WCBlind.org/Donate. Thank you!
